“Nuestra Señora de los Dolores es el gran ejemplo para los cristianos. Ella supo estar de pie junto a la cruz en la que moría su único hijo, el Salvador del mundo. Que, como ella, sepáis en todas las circunstancias de la vida ver la mano de Dios que os guía y protege con verdadero amor paternal”.

Hurricane Ida and California Wildfires

Please join the Association in praying for all those affected by Hurricane Ida along with the wildfires in California:

Lord, we pray for those who have been devastated by recent disasters. We remember those who have lost their lives so suddenly. We hold in our hearts the families forever changed by grief and loss. Bring them consolation and comfort. Surround them with our prayers for strength. Bless those who have survived and heal their memories of trauma and devastation. May they have the courage to face the days ahead.

Help us to respond with generosity in prayer, in assistance, and in comfort to the best of our abilities. Keep our hearts focused on the needs of all the communities. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Monthly Intention of His Holiness Pope Francis

Each month, our Holy Father invites us to add a special petition for remembrance in our Masses and prayers. During September, please join fellow AMM members in beseeching Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and Our Lord, Jesus Christ:

“For an environmentally sustainable lifestyle ...
We pray that we all will make courageous choices for a simple and environmentally
sustainable lifestyle, rejoicing in our young people who are resolutely committed to this.”
Let us pray to the Lord.

Shrine Mass COVID-19 Update

With the number of active COVID-19 cases on the rise here in Perry County, Missouri, the following announcement from Fr. Jim Osendorf, Superior of Saint Mary’s of the Barrens Church, will become effective on August 24:

Most of the Vincentian priests who preside at the daily Mass here at the Shrine Church are older, most with serious health concerns. As much as we dislike doing this again, we have decided to cancel all regular daily and Sunday Masses until further notice starting Tuesday, the 24th of August. We will have Mass on Sunday, August 22 and Monday, August 23 as usual.

This will not affect weddings or groups who come here on pilgrimage that have their own priest or deacon. The Church itself will remain open to visitors and tours. We hope that you will understand that our sole reason for doing this is to protect the health of the 30 priests and brothers who live in the Apostle of Charity residence. When the COVID numbers decline, and we feel comfortable with the safety of our priests, we will resume Masses again. The intentions of the members of the AMM will be remembered in the daily Mass offered at Apostle of Charity residence.

The Story of the Miraculous Medal The Story of St. Catherine Share in Mary's Promise
The Blessed Virgin herself designed the Medal of the Immaculate Conception--popularly known as the Miraculous Medal! No wonder, then, that it wins such extraordinary graces for those who wear it and pray for Mary's intercession . . . She personally worked no miracles, nor did she practice externally heroic charity like other great saints. She was not materially poor as were the children . . .
